Not to throw clod water on chocolate lovers, but as Birgitte points out, watch the ingredients. That Ghirardelli bar has palm oil ingredient which has led to massive forest loss and habitat destruction, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia where forests are clear-cut destroying the homes of orangutans. These forests provide crucial carbon dioxide traps. I'm a crunchy peanut butter lover and can't find it without palm oil locally. Otherwise, enjoy your indulgence!

Thanks Geoffrey--sadly it’s all too true. Palm oil is an extractive nightmare and it’s pervasive in our food system.

Mint chocolate is my mother's favorite — she loves to eat Frango mints for Christmas, usually gifted from a relative. I understand if you don't have time to answer, but would you have any recommendations for mint chocolate truffles that pass the quality test?

Ah, Frango... I know the name, I know the name! We have a feature coming up that I think your mum will love :)

As for mint chocolate truffles... I'm much more familiar with bars but I did judge some truffles at the Fall Holiday Salon in SF a few weeks ago. I took a special liking to Charlotte Truffles, given their founder's story and her focus on multicultural fusions. You can try this one: https://charlottetruffles.com/collections/shop-all/products/copy-of-limited-6-piece-holiday-collections

I especially liked their mango and raspberry yuzu truffles :)
