That's an amazing effect that chocolate had on Philippe as he recovered from cancer. I will remember that every time I eat chocolate.
Do you know about Tony's Chocolonely? I enjoyed it when I tried it, and their emphasis is on fair trade. I went to a film showing about this chocolate years ago, and it was wonderful! https://tonyschocolonely.com/
They do try their best to stay fair trade, but it's not 1005, and the full story shows you just how complicated and nuanced the chocolate business can be.
Thanks for sharing that post, Brigitte. Nice to see that the quality of Tony's chocolate is so high, but sad that they're less slavery free than we thought, although bringing attention to this is huge.
Most welcome Diana. I try to be as objective as possible. Without having intimate access to the company’s strategy and thinking it’s challenging to judge. Ultimately it’s us the buyers whose power of the purse can move that needle.

Yes it struck me as well. Reading about the founders always makes the experience of tasting their bars so much deeper and fuller.
I do know about Tony's, and they also have quite the backstory, altho different from Philippe's. I talk about that a bit in one of the holiday tour posts I did, see here >> https://cacaomuse.substack.com/p/holiday-tour-day-7-cosmographia

Your comment just made me hungry for chocolate, Brigitte. I'm going to eat a couple of haystacks I made yesterday.
